<Liz> I'm beginning to integrate this blog with my other one. Sorry for those of you who were fans here but I'm feeling better about telling my crazy stories on that blog as well as the tough stuff. </Liz> <!--4:25 PM-->

<Liz> So I'm peeling my eyes for the little things that tantlize the mind and spirit here in Paris. One of them for me is watching women in heels with young children rush for the metro. Yesterday I witnessed a lady in loud heels with her (about) 7 year old run. For both of them it was a game and they won! The doors blasted shut right behind them. I think I'll keep a lookout for more racers! I'm hoping this exercise will strengthen my love for Paris. </Liz> <!--12:29 AM-->

<Liz> Note to self (and other Paris adventurers): find great latin american food on Rue de St Jacques across from the church as you approach the Seine from the Latin Quarter. Can't remember the name but apparently the chinese place next door is great too. </Liz> <!--2:17 PM-->

<Liz> The Smiler
Saw the most extraordinary thing today: a loud joyful french person. This young dude talked with people on the train and smiled and got others to smile. At first I wasn't sure if he was a little crazy, a beggar, or just over the top. He was sincere- ly over the top. The most curious part was the fact that he got one business guy to start smiling and talking with him, and I started smiling seeing this other guy smile... it was absolutely contagious: no stopping us. And there were several other people who couldn't stop smiling even after the guy got off the train. "Well! Here we are at Gare de Lyon! Everyone for Gare de Lyon- we're gettin' off here! Alright, hey it was greating seeing your smile today and I hope you all have a great day! See ya!"

You know, they say there is some kind of chemical released in the body when one laughs or even smiles like that... I certainly could feel it- and I needed it. </Liz> <!--12:32 PM-->

<Liz> just now the neighbor dog is doing his bark/howl thing and it reminds me very powerfully of life on the farm. Our dogs would always bark/howl/sing us to sleep and often would be joined by the choral of coyotes that live in our woods. This is a lone song tonight... I don't even know if they have coyotes here. the only thing I'm missing now is the crickets and the frogs from the pond. (...I am a real farm girl, huh?....) </Liz> <!--2:42 PM-->
